Gare du Nord would like to express its sincere thanks to the Department of Culture, the Government Council and the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt for their great appreciation and the trust they have placed in us.

The approval of state subsidies until 2029 is a clear cultural policy commitment to strengthening Gare du Nord as a unique curated venue for contemporary and experimental music in Basel and as a nationally recognised centre of excellence. It underlines the importance of a vibrant independent music scene and the role of Gare du Nord as a production and performance venue for artistic development, discourse and international networking.

The secured funding will create improved conditions for ensembles and artists in the independent scene from 2026 onwards and provide a reliable basis for our curatorial work. We see this decision as both a mandate and a responsibility, and we remain deeply committed to promoting a diverse, innovative and internationally networked music scene in Basel.
