What if the era of humanity were over and turtles—slow, friendly, ancient—were to populate the Earth? Would they dream of these strange primates who had their chance and failed so miserably? Witty, funny, and bordering on the absurd, «Dreaming Turtles» is a musical theater piece in which a glimmer of hope for humanity shines through its dreamlike world.

As part of the lecture series «Ein Haus», the architectural practice Dyvik Kahlen – which operates between Porto and Palma de Mallorca – presents a villa in Arnhem. When does dance become music, and when does music become dance? «Hidden Heartache» explores musical perception and focuses on the origins of movement. From both deaf and hearing compositional and performative perspectives, a space of experience emerges between the concert grand piano, the dancing body, vibration, and gesture — a space in which sound is not only audible but also physically felt.

Geneviève Strosser, well known in Basel as a soloist and professor, returns to the stage of the Gare du Nord. In her programme, she combines the viola and her voice with new works by Georges Aperghis and KP Werani, as well as selected 20th-century masterpieces for solo viola. The poetic starting point is Nancy Hünger’s poem «Für einen schmerzlichen Takt ineinander« («For a painful beat intertwined»), in which language and music intertwine.

The «Nachtstrom» concert series at the FHNW School of Music is once again showcasing a wide variety of electronic music on stage this season. The guest artist is the sound artist and abstract turntablist Maria Chávez, who experiments with fragments of records, unusual playback techniques and chance.

As part of «Sonic Boom», the Percaso String Quartet and Carmel Curiel combine sound, gravity and movement. Four bows suspended from the ceiling, together with the musicians’ instruments and bodies, create a delicate network of interdependencies.
