Students in the Master’s programme «Music and Scene in Transformation» at the Basel Academy of Music present their final projects as part of a mini-festival. The concerts take place over several days in a variety of formats and with different ensembles.
«THE IDEA OF THE SEED» is an artistic concept that proposes a new and fresh form of performative work from the perspective of voice art. Voice art brings together different approaches to the voice, ranging from singing across genres to spoken text, improvisation, and electronic elements.
The themes of connection, hope, and collective wishing reflect how society responds to an uncertain present and future. The work responds to a world shaped by climate crises, wars, mental health challenges, complex political situations, and a growing disconnection from nature and from one another. It is rooted in a deep longing for perspectives that offer a vision of a better future and raises urgent questions about meaning, the fundamental «why». Closely linked to hope are acts of wishing and desire. The project explores these connections through books, texts, music, voice, and the body.
