Sonic Boom – Léo Collin

«Sonic Boom» is the new artist-in-residence programme at Gare du Nord. Eight emerging talents from the worlds of contemporary and experimental music will bring their visions to life through innovative concert formats, sound performances and evenings of musical theatre. Over a period of two years, they will each design and present two evenings in which they can express their individual artistic approaches. Accompanied by the venue’s own discourse format and mentoring programme, Gare du Nord offers a platform for audiences, the scene and artists with this series, thereby opening up space for creative encounters.

The performance «my body is not enough to enslave you» is a research project at the intersection of music, theatre and technology. In his exploration of ultrasound and infrasound, Léo Collin realised that both his body and his ears need specialised instruments to truly perceive these frequencies.

Musicians often talk about the role and quality of instruments in their careers and how much they influence their artistic work. But this research goes beyond the audible and focuses on the invisible. It explores how technology can expand human perception by giving people a new form of power through frequencies beyond natural hearing – even where the body itself sets limits.

«my body is not enough to enslave you» invites the audience to reconsider the relationship between sound, technology and human experience.
